Endometriosis Awareness 2005

2005 has been proclaimed as "The Year of the Volunteer".

National support groups in Europe and North America are out in full force arranging a huge variety of local, national and international events on the two continents during March in order to:

  • raise awareness of endometriosis
  • highlight the lackof general information and subsequent delay in diagnosis and treatment
  • draw attention to the impact of the disease on women, girls and their families.

This is happening through meetings, articles in the press, and lobbying of politicians and legislators.

May 2005, through our joint activities, be the year in which endometriosis is finally understood and treated as the significant illness we know it to be. Let us all participate and make a difference!

In Europe, Endometriosis Awareness Week is 7 - 13 March 2005.

Lone Hummelshoj (representing Endometriose Foreningen in Denmark) and Robert Music (representing the National Endometriosis Society in the UK) are presenting to Members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 9 March on the impact of endometriosis. A written declaration on endometriosis will be launched that day, and subsequently presented to the president of the European Parliament.

What can you do?
Please contact your local MEP and urge him/her to attend the meeting in Strasbourg, room S3.5 on 9 March at 14.00-16.30, and ask them to sign the declaration. The more signatures we get, the more endometriosis will be taken serious!

You can also show your support by participating in local and national events:
